Project: Acceptance Model Generator for Human-Robot Interaction (HRI)

Funded by the Bavarian Research Foundation (Bayerische Forschungsstiftung)

Responsibilities:

  • Conducted extensive research in the field of Social Robotics, focusing on acceptance factors in HRI.
  • Reviewed and synthesized insights from nearly 200 academic papers, journals, and taxonomies covering trust, usability, autonomy, and safety in human-robot collaboration.
  • Developed a full-stack web-based acceptance model generator based on the taxonomy by Onnasch et al. to evaluate user acceptance in HRI scenarios.
  • Built a multi-page interactive application using Flask (Python) for backend logic and HTML/CSS for frontend development.
  • Designed user-friendly UI components for configuring robot types, autonomy levels, and team/task characteristics.
  • Implemented logic mapping user input to psychological constructs using Pandas and Excel-based backend integration.
  • Added bilingual interface support (English & German) and branded styling in line with FAPS identity.
  • Collaborated with interdisciplinary researchers to validate the acceptance model and align it with ongoing HRI studies.
  • Delivered a complete, research-ready software tool used in preparation for behavioral experiments in HRI acceptance evaluation.
